GPS (Global Positioning System) - Description

GPS is a worldwide radio-navigation system which uses a network 24 satellites, and wasdeveloped by the US Department of Defense. Anyone with acommonly available GPS receiver can calculate his or her exactlocation on Earth. GPS has been very useful in air, land, andsea navigation, as well as in mapping, surveying, and numerousother operations where precise positioning is necessary
